What does this Policy cover?
This Policy applies to Bereda’s website and associated application (collectively, the “Services”). It covers how We collect, use and disclose of information about identifiable individuals (“Personal Information”). This Policy does not apply to companies that We do not own or control. We do not knowingly collect or solicit Personal Information from anyone under the age of majority.
How we collect your information
Internet services rely heavily on information provided by users to function properly. Bereda is no different.
In order to use Bereda, you must make an account. In creating an account We always collect your first name, last name, and an email address. If you sign up through Google then We are also given your gender and the address of your public photo on Google. If you sign up with Facebook then We are given your gender and an age range.
We collect your name when you sign up in order to let us address you personally. We also collect your email so that We can keep in touch with you when you’re not on the app.
Once you login We have an introductory survey that helps us learn about you. This survey is used in a couple of ways
- We manually aggregate the data and use it to understand trends in our users
- We use it when assisting users to help give advice tailored to their relative levels of expertise
We have a survey that let’s us collect information about how involved you are in the world of modern training theory. We do collect your age in this survey but don’t use it for anything other than to understand a bit about you as a user.
If you integrate any third-party services, such as wearable fitness devices, Bereda will import the data you choose to integrate from your third-party service, such as heart rate, power, speed, distance, elevation, temperature, steps, calories burned, exercise regime, etc. (collectively, “Training Data”).
All Training Data collected by the Platform is aggregated and anonymized by Bereda to be used for modeling and optimizing Bereda algorithms and machine learning purposes, as well as improving upon training plan recommendations and product design.
We collect data about how you use our service while you are using it. This happens as early as when you first arrive on the landing page. Until you identify yourself to us by creating an account, any usage data We collect is anonymous. We use usage data to help diagnose technical problems and to improve the quality of the Services We provide.
At Bereda We keep tracking as simple as We can. We track which features you’re using by means of button clicks. We can even reproduce your sessions with a tool called FullStory – this primarily helps us debug tricky issues, but is used on occasion to understand how users interact with features. Finally We send some info along to our marketing tools in order to help us tailor our advertisements to appropriate audiences.
When you visit Bereda, a cookie will be stored on your computer. Cookies and other similar technologies work by assigning a unique number to you that has no meaning outside of Bereda. Cookies come in two flavours, session and persistent-based.
- Session cookies only exist during an online session. They disappear from your computer when you’ve closed your browser. Bereda uses session cookies to identify you while you’re logged in.
- Persistent cookies remain on your computer even if your browser is closed. We use these cookies to identify if you are a Bereda user.
You may choose not to accept cookies. That’s absolutely fine with us, it just means that some feature of our Services will not work for you.
Cookies are basically just the way that a website remembers stuff about a particular browser. As an example, they are what make it so that when you open Bereda, We take you right to your home page if you’re logged in rather than making you login each time.
We have some third party services that employ clear images, or scripts that help them better manage content on our site. We do not tie the information gathered to Personal Information.
We have a few services that We use to help us understand our users better. The way they get sent information is by sticking a little bit of code in the website that sends info their way. We can then use those third party services to improve our Services.
How we store your information
Your data has to be stored somewhere, and in Our case it’s in servers in the United States. By using Our Services, you agree that your Personal Information is going to be sent to those servers, where it will be stored and processed. You acknowledge and agree that your Personal Information may be accessible to law enforcement and governmental agencies in the U.S. under lawful access regimes or court order.
Basically, your data will be coming to live in the United States if you use Bereda. We may have to give it to appropriate groups of people if they come to us with a legitimate reason for needing it.
How we share information with business partners
We may from time to time employ other companies and people to perform tasks on our behalf and need to share Personal Information with them to provide the Services to you. Unless we tell you differently, such third parties do not have any right to use the Personal Information we share with them beyond what is necessary to assist us. This includes third party companies and individuals employed by us to facilitate our Services, including the provision of maintenance services, database management, Web analytics and general improvement of the Services, and businesses who engage our Services (to the extent provided for above).
Sometimes we’re going to need help with something, and we’re going to have to talk to someone outside of Bereda to get that help. In doing so, we may need to share Personal Information with them to get that help. If we do, we’ll share only what is necessary. An example might be that our database fails and needed to be replaced. We would ask our database management provider to help us get a backup version running, and in doing so they may see some Personal Information as they’re restoring the data.
What happens if we transfer ownership of the business?
If we (or substantially all of our assets) are acquired, or if we go out of business, enter bankruptcy, or go through some other change of control, Personal Information may be made available or otherwise transferred to the new controlling entity, where permitted under applicable law.
If We lose control of the business (voluntarily or involuntarily), then Personal Information may passed along to the person or group that gains control of the business.
With Your Consent
If we need to use or disclose any Personal Information in a way not identified in this Privacy Statement, we will notify you and/or obtain your express consent as required under applicable privacy laws.
The only reason we want your information is to provide you with the best experience we can. We will keep any information as long as we need to in order to meet that goal. If you would like to get rid of your information, then we recommend you delete your account.
How to manage your information (!!)
You have the right to access any Personal Information we hold about you. If you would like your Personal Information, then we will provide you with a written copy of it within 30 days.
Under limited circumstances we may not be able to give you all of your Personal Information. Generally this will be because it pertains to another user. In cases where we can’t give you all of your information, we’ll provide you a reason for why the request was denied.
We’ll make every reasonable effort to keep your Personal Information up to date. Thankfully, for the most part that is just your name, which you can adjust through the Settings dialog in the application.
If you read any single thing in this Policy, it’s this. You may permanently delete your account through the application in the Settings dialog. This will erase all data about you in our system immediately. If you would like us to remove any records of you from our third party systems then just send us a written request at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will do so within 30 days.
We just want to provide the best planning experience we can, we’re not here to sell your data or to use it for anything other than that. If you at any point would like to update or delete your Personal Information, just head to the Settings dialog and go for it. If you would like a copy of your data then let us know and we’ll get that to you.
What happens when this Policy changes?
We may amend this Statement from time to time. Use of Personal Information we collect is subject to the Statement in effect at the time such information is collected, used or disclosed.
If we make material changes or changes in the way we use Personal Information, we will notify you by posting an announcement in our Services or sending you an email prior to the change becoming effective.
You are bound by any changes to the Policy when you use the Services after such changes have been first posted.
